Cross border logistics companies can be roughly classified as follows:

In terms of scale:

1. Large express delivery companies

2. Medium sized freight forwarding company

3. Small agency company

Type 1: Large express delivery companies. Currently, China's cross-border logistics is still in its infancy and there are no global express logistics service companies, except for EMS. Nowadays, in the logistics industry, global logistics companies are mostly established by foreign enterprises (with domestic participation), such as the four major express delivery companies we call DHL, UPS, FEDEX, TNT, and ARAMEX in the Middle East. Now SF Express is expanding its international parcel business. Although its performance in the industry is not particularly outstanding at present, it is still a direction. Perhaps in a few decades, there will also be a domestic enterprise in China that can compete with the four major express delivery companies.

The second type: medium-sized freight forwarding companies, which generally integrate some logistics resources, including but not limited to international airlines, shipping companies, foreign customs clearance companies, foreign logistics companies, railway transportation, etc. These types of companies generally have strong resources on hand. The focus direction is different. Membership prices that include the advantages of the four major express delivery companies, long-term partnerships with airlines and shipping companies, and relatively advantageous prices and fixed space. These types of companies are mainly concentrated in several major port cities, such as Shenzhen, Shanghai, Ningbo, etc. For example, Yiliti, which is slightly well-known in the industry for its Middle East tax inclusive special line, 4PX, which specializes in small packages and express delivery agents, Zhongtian, which specializes in air transportation, and Haiguang, Changfan, which specialize in sea transportation, etc. (Please private me for advertising expenses). These types of companies have their own focus areas and are also known as market makers in the industry. Some of these companies specialize in serving clients of peer freight forwarding companies, some only serve as direct trading companies, and some balance both.

The third category: small agency companies. These types of companies are currently quite common in the market, generally focusing on serving direct trade customers, such as factories, foreign trade, procurement, overseas procurement, and so on. Their focus is on service and they integrate a considerable amount of logistics resources. However, the difference between them and the second type of companies is that they cannot directly cooperate with airlines due to cargo volume and financial strength, and usually cooperate with the second type of companies. The advantage is that the service is generally dedicated and the logistics industry is relatively familiar, which is equivalent to hiring a private logistics consultant. The disadvantage is that the price and control over the transportation of goods are relatively weak, as information is not first-hand. But generally, only professionals can survive. Those who can survive should have strong professionalism, and there are also many who will gradually grow and become stronger, rising to the second category of companies.
